Greetings and welcome to the Read Local San Diego blog. My name is Erick, and I am your friendly neighborhood blogger. I am one of several volunteers who joined Karla Olson of BookStudio, along with an executive committee, to form San Diego’s newest literary organization.

For those of you unfamiliar with Read Local San Diego, we seek to complement the marketing process of writers, publishers, and bookstores by fostering meaningful connections between readers and writers through various literary events and outreach programs.

On November 14 of 2009, we hosted the first of those events on the Sun Deck of San Diego’s Horton Plaza. If you volunteered at the event, were one of the featured authors, browsed the tables, listened to the speakers, enjoyed the music, or bought a book, we hope you had a wonderful time. If you didn’t know about it, or didn’t have a chance to go, here’s a link to photos and a description of this unique and wonderful inaugural event. We look forward to many more happening like this one, so join our mailing list to be informed of local literary news and upcoming events.

For those who want to know more about those and other authors, we are compiling a directory of local authors, searchable by name, genre, location, and more. For those of you who want to know more about Read Local San Diego, there is plenty to browse and more to come. As to the future of this blog, it will feature interviews with local authors. So, for those of you who want to make connections with your favorite local author, come back often, read this blog every week, volunteer, come out to our literary events, and spread the word.
